At its core, the DuoShear system consists of two parallel runs of panels - one inside and one outside - creating a nearly hollow building envelope. The patented framing panels are either a timber bamboo/wood hybrid or Eucalyptus. Over twice the load-bearing capacity as a stud framed wall, the panels are 1.25" thick, up to 4' wide, and 10’ tall, these powerhouses weigh in at a manageable 140 to 170 lbs each.
Panels arrive on-site custom pre-cut to the architectural plan and ready to go, complete with precision cutouts for doors, windows, outlets, and access panels. This prefabrication eliminates on-site cutting, significantly speeding up the installation process. In fact, a team of three can assemble a whopping 2,200 sqft in under four hours using a pneumatic nail gun.
The installation process is as smooth as it is swift. Panels are easily attached to conventional wood top and bottom plates, with contiguous panels fastened using 1” lap joints. Once the exterior run of panels is in place, vertical blocking is added in the cavity between the two runs. Following this, the interior panel run is installed. It's a straightforward process that doesn't require specialized labor, making it accessible to a wider range of construction professionals.
